We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality products and solutions. The position reports to the Director of Process Operations and Engineering.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality products and solutions. The position reports to the Director of Process Operations and Engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, encouraging continuous learning and professional growth.
- Identify and address skill gaps within the team and develop training programs to enhance team capabilities.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including product management, quality assurance, and operations, to align project goals and deliverables.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Provide technical direction and expertise to the engineering team, ensuring the application of best practices and industry standards.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and technologies.
- Review and approve technical documentation, designs, and specifications.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet project demands and organizational goals.
- Manage engineering budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend tools, software, and equipment needed for engineering projects.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for engineering-related matters, communicating project status, challenges, and solutions to senior management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables.
- Prepare and present reports, proposals, and technical documents to stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Excellent project management skills with a track record of successfully leading engineering projects from conception to completion.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in AutoCad or other engineering software and tools.
- Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field). A Master’s, PhD or MBA degree is a plus.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in engineering roles with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership position.
- Majority of work is conducted in a fermentation production facility and includes frequent exposure to wet, humid, dusty, and noisy conditions.
- Work includes lifting (up to 50 lbs.), standing, walking, as well as occasional scooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- May be exposed to airborne particles and chemicals used in fermentation production facilities.
- Mandated use of company-issued uniform and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Adherence to all company safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
