The role requires close coordination with other Assistant Production Managers to ensure seamless collaboration across production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborative Production Management:
- Work closely with the other Assistant Production Manager to create manufacturing orders and blend formulas, ensuring seamless release to production.
- Partner together to maintain product quality and ensure all specifications are met.
- Coordinate efforts to ensure accurate documentation on all production records.
- Jointly lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on cost, quality, delivery, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate to measure and optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Overall Labor Effectiveness (OLE).
- Coordinate employee supervision, stepping in as needed to maintain safety, quality, and productivity.
- Work together to monitor employee development, providing coaching, constructive feedback, and discipline as needed to improve performance.
- Align on scheduling and leading production meetings with personnel to ensure clear communication and shared objectives.
- Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), including allergen control and housekeeping, are maintained at a high level.
- Ensure compliance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation on all records.
- Collaborate with the Inventory Coordinator to ensure adequate levels of raw materials, ingredients, and packaging to minimize stock shortages and maintain the Master Production Schedule.
- Collaborate with the Inventory Coordinator to manage inventory levels of ingredients, packaging, strains, and finished products with the goal of reducing inventory by 30%.
- Prepare weekly inventory reports.
- Work with maintenance to organize, direct, and/or conduct equipment repair.
- Maintain organized materials, equipment, and tooling storage areas.
- Enforce, instruct, and support continuous improvement activities related to cost, quality system, and process control requirements (SPC, control plans, corrective actions).
- Handle and protect confidential data with integrity.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Majority of work is conducted in a fermentation production facility with frequent exposure to wet, humid, dusty, and noisy conditions.
- Potential exposure to airborne particles and chemicals used in fermentation production facilities.
- 2 – 4 year technical degree and/or related field (experience may be considered in lieu of education).
- 4 years of experience in industrial/manufacturing, preferably with some supervisory or management experience.
- Deep understanding of mechanical processing.
- Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, shop orders, and shipping papers.
- Forklift operation proficiency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic math comprehension (decimal, fractional, and metric)
- Training, team development, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand, walk, as well as occasional scooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Mandated use of company-issued uniform and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
